Brasil Mata Viva Standard (BMV STANDARD)
The Standard that characterises the generation of Brasil Mata Viva Programme´s Sustainability Credit Units, assigning environmental, social and economic indicators to forests based on results from the measurement of carbon stocks.
Conceptualised as a fusion of the following premises:
· Forest and Biodiversity Preservation;
· Valuing Culture and;
· Sustainable Development.
The BMV Standard systemises the activities of the partners, rural producers of the BMV Projects and the BMV Programmes and Projects as a whole. It takes into consideration three fundamental aspects when qualifying additionality of a forest biome preservation project:
· Avoided deforestation within the projects boundaries;
· Biodiversity conservation and the biome´s ability to provide environmental services and;
· Improving the quality of life of the forest region inhabitants.
